Best Shopify Inventory Management Apps in 2026, After Stocky

· 7 min read

Stocky, the free inventory app Shopify bundled with POS Pro, stopped working on August 31, 2026. It can no longer be installed, and Shopify moved purchase orders, transfers and stock counts into the admin. So the question for most stores is no longer “which inventory app” but “which gap does Shopify leave for my store”.

This guide answers that in three steps: what Shopify admin does with no app, which job each app adds, and how to pick. Ratings, review counts and prices come from each app’s Shopify App Store listing on October 21, 2026.

What Shopify does without an app

Since Stocky’s shutdown, these are part of Shopify admin itself (Shopify Help Center: inventory and locations):

  • Quantities per location, with every adjustment recorded, so you can see when and why a number changed.
  • Stock counts to check your records against the shelf.
  • Transfers to move stock between locations and receive shipments.
  • Purchase orders with suppliers, payment terms and currencies. Each order links to a transfer that receives the stock and records cost adjustments (purchase orders).

What is still missing is everything that tells you what to order and when: demand forecasting, reorder points, low-stock alerts by email or Slack, and one stock number shared with Amazon or Etsy. Barcode labels and scan-based picking are not in the admin either. Those gaps are what the apps below fill. If you sell on one channel, reorder by eye and have a few hundred SKUs, the admin may be enough.

The apps, by the job they do

Stockie Inventory Management: alerts first, forecasting later

Stockie (Plutonian, on the App Store since 2021, Built for Shopify) starts as a low-stock alert tool and adds planning in higher plans. Basic, $4.99/month: scheduled and instant alerts for up to 8,000 variants with reorder quantities. Pro, $29.99/month: forecasting by location, reorder dates, lead times, safety stock and min/max levels. Pro Plus, $59.99/month: purchase orders, barcode receiving, stocktakes, landed and weighted average costs. 14-day trial on each plan.

Good fit: a store that wants to stop running out before it is ready to plan purchasing in an app.

Inventory Management ‑ Assisty: the free starting point

Assisty has the largest review base in this list (4.8 from 359). The free Basic plan covers six months of sales history. Professional, from $19/month, opens full history and unlimited reports; Replenishment, from $39/month, adds AI demand forecasting, reorder points and purchase orders that are created, approved and received across locations. Prices rise with your Shopify plan (up to $99 and $199). The listing also offers automatic migration of Stocky suppliers and purchase orders.

Good fit: former Stocky users who want their suppliers and purchase orders moved over, and stores that want to test forecasting before paying.

Prediko Inventory Management: forecasting for growing brands

Prediko prices by store revenue: Starter $49/month up to $100K a year, Scale-up $119 up to $500K, Growth $199 up to $2M, then Enterprise. It does demand planning by SKU and seasonality, an inventory planner, purchase orders and transfers with Stocky import, and bills of materials for raw materials. It lists 100+ warehouse and 3PL integrations plus Amazon, Faire, Etsy, Xero and QuickBooks.

Good fit: brands with seasonal demand and a 3PL, where a wrong reorder costs more than the subscription.

Stockful: Inventory Management: forecasting with clear limits

Stockful launched in March 2026 and has few reviews yet (5.0 from 17), but it is Built for Shopify and its pricing is easy to plan: Starter $19.99/month for 2,000 tracked SKUs and 1 location, Growth $39.99 for 7,500 SKUs and 5 locations, Pro $79.99, Scale $199.99 for 35,000 SKUs. It forecasts per-SKU seasonality and reports its own forecast accuracy, raises purchase orders from reorder picks and sends alerts to Slack or email.

Good fit: a mid-size catalog that wants forecasting without revenue-based pricing. Check the review count again before you commit; the app is new.

EasyScan Inventory & Barcode: when the work happens in a warehouse

EasyScan (5.0 from 376 reviews, Built for Shopify, since 2020) is the pick when the problem is physical: no barcodes, slow counts, picking mistakes. Basic, $9.99/month: barcode and SKU generation and label printing on Dymo and Zebra. Standard, $39.99: picking and packing, inventory checks, transfers, bin locations, low-stock alerts. Advanced, $79.99: purchase and transfer orders, demand forecasting and analytics. 10-day trial.

Good fit: stores that pack their own orders and want scan-based stocktakes.

Sumtracker Inventory Manager: one stock number across marketplaces

Sumtracker syncs stock in real time across Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy and Walmart and handles bundles, where a kit’s stock follows its components. Manage, $59/month (up to 2,500 orders a year on the listing; higher limits on its pricing page): sync, bundles, stocktakes, multi-location. Replenish, $119/month: purchase orders, transfers and 12 months of forecasting. 14-day trial.

Good fit: anyone who has oversold on a marketplace because two channels kept separate counts.

Stockroom ‑ Purchase Orders: free purchasing and light manufacturing

Stockroom by MyWorks launched in July 2026, is Built for Shopify and is free. It covers bills of materials and builds, landed costs at receiving, barcode and price labels, and lets you ask Claude or ChatGPT about stock and costs. Paid sync to QuickBooks or Xero goes through MyWorks.

Good fit: makers who assemble products from components and stores that need purchase orders with landed costs at no monthly fee.

Cin7 Core Inventory Management: a full inventory system

Cin7 Core (formerly DEAR) is not an app you add to Shopify so much as a system Shopify becomes a channel of. Standard, $349/month: 5 users, 6,000 sale orders a year, unlimited locations. Pro, $599: material requirements planning. Advanced, $1,199: warehouse management. It connects Amazon, Faire, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Avalara and ShipStation. Its rating is the lowest here (4.3 from 62).

Good fit: wholesale plus retail businesses that need inventory, purchasing and accounting in one place and have someone to run it.

Not an inventory system, but it fixes stock in bulk

Disclosure: we build Bulk Product Edit by MITS, so it is not ranked above. It does not forecast or create purchase orders. What it does is correct stock at scale: set or adjust quantities at one location for thousands of variants in one task, with Shopify’s reason codes (correction, cycle count, received, damaged, shrinkage and others) so the inventory history stays readable. It also switches inventory tracking and the “continue selling when out of stock” policy in bulk, filtered by location, SKU, barcode or “out of stock somewhere”. The steps are in how to bulk edit inventory on Shopify.

How to choose in five questions

  1. Do you sell outside Shopify? If yes, start with multichannel sync (Sumtracker, or Cin7 Core at the high end). Forecasting on a wrong stock number is wasted.
  2. Do you know what to reorder? If not, you need forecasting: Assisty’s free plan to test, Stockie Pro or Stockful for predictable pricing, Prediko for seasonal brands with a 3PL.
  3. Is the pain on the shelf? Barcodes, counts and picking point to EasyScan.
  4. Do you build products from parts? Look at Stockroom and Prediko’s bills of materials.
  5. How many SKUs and locations? Check the plan limits above against your catalog before the trial ends; most prices step up with SKUs, orders or revenue.

Frequently asked questions

What replaced Stocky? Shopify’s own inventory features in the admin: purchase orders, transfers, stock counts and quantity history. Forecasting and reorder suggestions, which Stocky had, are not part of them, so stores that relied on those need an app such as Assisty, Stockie, Stockful or Prediko.

Is there a free Shopify inventory management app? Shopify admin itself covers counts, transfers and purchase orders at no extra cost. Assisty has a free plan with six months of sales history, and Stockroom is free for purchase orders, bills of materials and landed costs.

Which app is best for multiple locations? All eight handle locations; the difference is limits. Stockie’s Basic plan allows unlimited locations, Stockful counts them per plan (1 to 10), and Cin7 Core includes unlimited locations from its first plan.

How were these apps chosen? From the Shopify App Store search for “inventory management” on October 21, 2026: apps with an active listing, a clear inventory job and either 50+ reviews or the Built for Shopify badge. No app paid to be included. Prices change; the listing is the source of truth.
