Shopify Wholesale Marketplace: Faire vs Shopify Collective

Updated , first published · 5 min read

A Shopify wholesale marketplace connects you with retailers who don’t know your brand yet. Shopify works with two: Faire, a B2B marketplace where independent retailers buy from brands, connected through the Faire: Sell Wholesale sales channel, and Shopify Collective, where other Shopify stores list your products and sell them to their customers. Your own B2B store, with companies and catalogs, serves the wholesale buyers you already have. One way to use them is in steps: a marketplace to find retailers, your B2B store for the ones who reorder.

The setup and terms come from Shopify’s Help Center pages on Faire, setting up Faire as a brand and Shopify Collective, read on October 23, 2026.

Faire with Shopify

Faire is a marketplace of independent retailers. As a brand, you connect Shopify to Faire, publish products, and receive orders from retailers, which sync back into Shopify.

  1. Install the Faire: Sell Wholesale sales channel from the Shopify App Store and click Add sales channel.
  2. In Sales channels > Faire: Sell Wholesale, click Connect Faire account, or Sign up for Faire if you don’t have one. Faire reviews new brand applications within 2 to 3 business days; a declined application goes on a waitlist.
  3. Choose the products to publish: all of them, active ones only, or a set by product tag.
  4. Set the pricing logic. If your Shopify prices are retail, choose I price my products for retail on Shopify and set how wholesale prices are calculated; if they’re wholesale, choose the other option and set the retail calculation. Say whether you sell in cases and how many per case.
  5. Decide what syncs: prices from Shopify to Faire, inventory counts from Shopify to Faire, and new orders from Faire to Shopify. All three can be changed later.

On costs, Shopify’s page says there are no fees for the Faire sales channel, the app or setting up the account. Faire’s own fees depend on how the retailer came to you. Shopify’s guide to Faire wholesale (May 5, 2026, read October 31, 2026) lists, for brands in North America, a 15% commission on orders from retailers who discover you on Faire, a $10 fee on a buyer’s first order, 0% commission on orders through your Faire Direct link, and payment processing of 1.9% to 3.5% plus 30¢ depending on how fast you’re paid out. Fees vary by location, so check Faire’s current terms before you price; the commission comes out of your wholesale margin.

In our view, Faire fits a brand with products independent shops stock (gifts, home goods, beauty, stationery, food) and no network of retail buyers yet. The pricing step deserves the most thought: a wholesale price that leaves the retailer a normal markup and you a margin after commission. Wholesale pricing covers the arithmetic.

Shopify Collective

Shopify Collective works between Shopify stores. As a supplier, you make products available, create price lists for the retailers who sell them, and get discovered by retailers looking for complementary products. As a retailer, a store imports those products and sells them without buying stock. A business can be both.

It’s free with all Shopify plans, subject to store eligibility, and there’s no minimum sales requirement. Shopify recommends Collective for merchants in the United States. The supplier ships the orders, payment is processed when they ship, and returns are automated, according to Shopify’s page on recommended dropshipping apps.

Collective fits brands whose products sit well next to another Shopify store’s range: a candle brand alongside a home-goods store, accessories alongside a clothing label. Since the retailer is another brand’s store, pick partners whose customers match yours.

Which one first

  • No retail network yet, products for independent shops: start with Faire to find retailers.
  • Complementary Shopify brands you’d like to sell through: start with Shopify Collective.
  • Retailers already buy from you by email or phone: move them into your own B2B store first, with companies, catalogs and payment terms; see sell wholesale on Shopify and Shopify B2B.

FAQ

Does Faire charge Shopify sellers? Shopify’s page says there are no fees for the Faire sales channel, the app or setting up a Faire account. For North American brands, Shopify’s guide to Faire lists a 15% commission on orders from retailers who find you on Faire, 0% through your Faire Direct link, a $10 fee on a buyer’s first order and payment processing fees; check Faire’s current terms for your location.

Is Shopify Collective free? Shopify Collective is free with all Shopify plans, subject to store eligibility, with no minimum sales requirement.

Can I use Faire and B2B on one Shopify store? In our reading, yes: the Faire sales channel and Shopify B2B both run in the same admin, so a store on Basic or higher can take Faire orders and serve its own B2B companies. Keep stock synced so the two don’t sell the same units.

Do Faire orders appear in Shopify? With order syncing turned on, new Faire orders are created in Shopify, and inventory counts can sync from Shopify to Faire.
